Its been one hell of a week. Monday I spent my entire day in Ford's World Headquarters building going to meetings. By the time I was done I had a horrible headache and went home to take a nap. That last about 2 hours when I got a call from my buddy at work. The server took a power hit and things are all screwed up and they had to replace a drive and we need to reload it. So I finished up my fatherly chores at home, grabbed the NT 4.0 server disk and set out in the worst storm in the world to work. I didn't get home till 10:15 the next morning and that was only to get a shower and put on some really work clothes, not that I minded working in a dirty teeshirt and shorts, but it didn't look at all professional. Worked the whole day and took my boss to pick up his car and then set off for home about 4:00pm. It had been about 35 hours since I had last slept, but I wasn't having a problem catching up in the car. I kept dosing off and doing all that I could to stay awake on the way home. I was happy I finally got to my exit and I was getting off, bed was not too far off now. Then it happened. I was stopping at a light and the next thing I knew was that I was hearing a crunching noise and the car stopped very quick. I had just misjudged the stop by about 2 feet and ran right into the back of a pickup truck. The driver was very nice to me and didn't beat me over the head when he got out, he could see that I was very upset and only had my eyes half open. After surveying his truck bumper and seeing that there was a slight paint streak on it, we scrubbed it off with a fingernail and then looked at my front-end that was now much shorter. What a perfect middle to a nightmare that was still going on. I had tagged teamed a buddy at work, so I was off to get sleep and he got to stay and work on the problem. As he was up all night it wasn't till 4:00pm on Wednesday that we actually, finally got started on restoring the server. From my calculations it was going to take us 28 hours to do. By this more we had a major chunk of what we were looking for and got the users back up, but the nightmare still hasn't ended. We have more to restore and its just taking for ever now. Oh well we will see how the rest of the day goes and who knows, I might get a good nights sleep tonight. Doubt it.
