10 Years in 2 Days

After a great Friday night, the hell began per say. I needed to do about 10 years worth of repairs to the house that I had been putting off. It all started about 9:00 in the morning.

  1. Plumber came to snake the drain (this needs to be done once / twice a year to keep water out of the basement)
  2. Carpet Cleaners cam (I was still picking up when they came in, who would have know they would be early)
  3. Pull the seats out of the van and took over the train stuff and other boxes to the in laws. (the van was full from front to back and floor to ceiling)
  4. Stopped at Home Depot to get a new valve for the basement faucet (didn't have the one I was looking for)
  5. Went home and grabbed the part and went to the plumbing store (they said that I would have a hard time finding the part, but they would sell me the whole faucet for $35).
  6. Stopped at Home Depot again and found a faucet there for $17 so I bought that.
  7. Stopped at the car wash to vacuum of the van (boy the kids are slobs, this took 1/2 hour)
  8. Broke faucet installing and went back to Home Depot again.
  9. 1/2 installed faucet and ate and then finished it.
  10. Fix the drain line from the furnace to the drain for the AC
  11. Thought about painting, but was too tired and fell asleep on the couch watching Spirit with the boys.

Sunday Came:

  1. Fixed the panel on the front door that the Newspaper man and knocked out throwing the paper at it.
  2. Fixed the chain on the front door to stop it from flying open (my sister in law let the door go in the wind and it ripped it out of the door jam)
  3. Dropped off Bourne Identity (after getting all the way there with Spirit and going back to get it back again)
  4. Went to Lowe's to get some parts to repair the closets.
  5. Installed a new light on the back of the house in 20 degree weather.
  6. Replaced old switches and plugs in the basement.
  7. Taped off the stairs.
  8. Fixed the closets.
  9. Re-caulked the tub.
  10. Got kids to bed.
  11. Painted the stairs.
  12. Died of exhaustion

Why do I wait for these things? I only have one thing left to do and that is to fix the stove.

wow. very impressive Tom. I tend to procrastinate on things that need to be done at home too. Elaine really gets aggravated with me sometimes. Your posts reminded me that i need to start reducing my "honey do" list at home. thanks tom. later!
