When I was younger I would go to lunch with my father every now and then and I was always amazed at how all the waitresses knew him and he flirted with all of them. I always thought how does life get like that. Now that I’m older and working and have had many more lunches with my father I have figured it out. He lives a very structured life. He has certain days that he eats lunch at certain restaurants, so you are bound to meet and get to know the waitresses after 20 years or so. So where is this going you ask? I often thought if I would ever be like that. Being that he eats at much nicer restaurants then I do its hard to work up that kind of relationship with the person that works the fast food counter, they tend to not work everyday or god forbid get a better job. This morning I was greeted with the same person that I have seen at the drive through each of the last 15 or so times I have stopped there. I usually hit BK for breakfast 3 times a week, so I go there a lot and I always give the exact change, because I always order the same thing. Nothing like trying something new. So she says good morning honey and have a great day, much more then a normal person at the drive through would do if they didn’t know you. So now I have turned into my father, which mind you isn’t a bad thing. I just hope I can be as good a father to my children as he has been to me. I know this is early, but it just came to mind today. Dad, I know you don’t read this, but have a Happy Fathers day and please hit on some prettier waitresses, I know they may have looked good 15 years ago, but its time to let them go…..

What a good write up Tom, I loved it. I'm sure you are and always will be a wonderful father. You seem to be grounded and know what is in the best interest of your family.
