It was a busy relaxing weekend. Friday night I got the lawn mowed in anticipation of my Harry Potter book being their early the next morning so that I could dive in and start reading. No such luck. I went to the store and picked up the screens that I need to get fixed, I bought some stuff to fix the toilets (its been over 1 1/2 years that you had to double flush them to get it to work, they are now both working on one flush), its about time, we now moving. Took Garrett to go get his baseball pictures. Then off to 4:00 mass at church, where I spent most of my timing telling the kids to shut up, sit up and listen up, but never heard a thing the priest said. I so do love going to church with the family. By now it was 5:00 and her parents wanted to go to dinner, so we did that and I still did not have my Harry Potter book.
We finally arrived home about about 7:30 and there it was in the door. We opened it up and I was already to go when I was told that the boys needed a bath, that it was my night to put them to bed and then to top it all off Garrett didn’t want me to read the book without him. Now he was talking, we settled in and Sandy decided that she was going to read to them. Not bad, I could sit and listed just like they could or so I thought. I think we only made it 5 pages and they were trying to get out of their beds to start running around. I kissed the two older ones good night, grabbed my book and moved to the couch with the baby. He was happily sitting on my lap and after the 3rd time of Sandy saying are you going to put him to bed, she took him and put him in there. Thanks dear. I was able to get about 100 pages read before closing it to watch trading spaces with Sandy at 11:00. I really slow when it comes to reading. We went to bed. Got up the next morning, knowing that my parents were going to be there by 11 so that we could take them by the new house, but I wanted to read more, so I started to read and kept ignoring Sandy about getting their shoes on and what not. I told her it would be ok if we did it when my parents got there, but she wanted to be ready. I kept reading. My parents got there and my mom was so happy to see me reading. I had never done this when I was at home. Not much for reading, I would rather watch the movie, but there is something about these books and Its probably because they are written for a 12 year old. I don’t think I have ever progressed past that stage anyway.
We left and took my parents out to the new home. Dad just shook his head all the way out there, I know that he thinks the drive is way too long, but its something I chose to do. I will probably be pissed at myself later on that one, but I’m very happy with the area that we picked. He really didn’t have anything nice to say about the house. Son it looks like the roof is going to cave in, you have moles in the lawn, the driveway needs to be re-slabbed. Maybe it was the insurance salesmen in him, he was looking at it for my coverages or maybe I’m just an idiot. I don’t know that I will ever be able to make this guy happy unless I’m living next to him in a house that is 5 times more then I can afford. I’m not my brother in law, I don’t make $200,000 a year, I can’t afford a 1/2 million dollar house, if I could don’t you think I would already be in it. Oh well, we got back in the car and drove them back to our house, they had to go golfing later anyway. Mom seemed to think it was nice, but I think she is just trying to makeup for my father, she always tries to make all her kids happy even if she doesn’t agree with what they are doing. They stayed for a little bit and took off and we thanked them for coming. Then it was back to the book. Sandy’s girlfriend called and we knew that we needed to pick some stuff up from their house, so I only got to read two chapters and then it was off to their house for a day of sun and water and a BBQ. It was fun, the kids had a great time and I even got chase them around with the super soaker.
We returned home, got the kids to bed, watched the first episode of Sex in the City for this year and then I was back to my book. Finally at about 3:00 in the morning, I decided that I needed to go to bed so that I could get up for work. I’m now a little over a 3rd into the 870 pages and can’t wait to get home tonight to read more.

It must be a parent thing...I remember when we were looking for our house last year, nothing was "just right" for them. Luckily we love our house regardless of what they think!!

I think it is hard for parents to stop looking after their kids even when the kids are grown. I know my mom is guilty of the same thing. It's hard for her to switch gears now that I am an adult.
I let it go in one ear and out the other. When she gets to be too much, I thank her for her opinion and then remind her that this is my life, she has her own to worry about. Perhaps you could be a little more gentle about it than I- I don't know the meaning of subtle. lol
