Camera Help

With the impending death of our Kodak D240 camera, I think its time to start looking at a new one and this one came recommend from the guy at best buy: Canon USA Consumer Products - Digital Cameras - PowerShot S1 IS - if you have one or know anything about it, can you let me know what you think? Also if you have a better or different one that you think I would like let me know.

These are the things that I’m looking for in the camera.

  • 10x zoom
  • AA batteries
  • video capability
  • multi-shot (burst mode) I don’t know if this one can do it yet.
  • easy for the wife to use (though she is pretty good with the cameras).

Thanks for any help you guys can give me.

You'd better not ask me since I gave my Cannon some Diet Coke to drink yesterday and it didn't like it at all.

based on your parameters, this is a good camera for you. The 10x zoom lens certainly makes up for the fact that it's only a 3.1 megaixel camera. Good shutter speed on this camera and generally easy to use. Consistently sharp images. This camera tends to get pretty good reviews from everyone. I don't think you can go wrong. Kudos to best buy for not trying to rip you off and steer you to a higher priced camera.

I have a Sony Cybershot 5.0 megapixel cam. I love it, it does everything I want it to do and more. For a technotard like me, it rocks. ;o)
