I should have known better, but I did it anyways. Every year I buy presents for mommy but never show the boys what they got her, so they don’t see till she opens it on Christmas day. This year, I didn’t want to get that disapproving looking from the wife when the boys were just as excited about seeing the present as she was, so as I was wrapping today (my Christmas ritual of wrapping on Christmas eve), I decided to show the boys the present, a jewelry box. I told them, don’t tell mommy its a secret. The older two were OK with it and I went back to wrap it and then Sandy said to me that Nick just told her what they had gotten her and that it was a secret and she shouldn’t tell anyone. She said to him that it was a secret from her and he said mommy its a secret, don’t say it. I then told him that it was a secret from her….
Well this year I won’t get the look.

With so much excitement and waiting for the BIG DAY, it is hard for little ones to contain themselves. Even though the element of surprise may be compromised, the appreciation of a well-chosen gift will still be there. Have a warm and Merry Christmas!!!

Glad to see we're not the only ones who leave wrapping until the last minute. This year it was Christmas morning and we ran out of tape! I think its really cute that Nick told Sandy about the gift - full of excitement.
Happy Christmas and New Year to you all. - f.
