One Goal Short Of A Hat trick

But it wasn’t from lack of trying. I have been very down about my hockey lately. I just didn’t think that the team’s heart was in it, but I had no doubt about their fists. I didn’t join up to brawl. So as I got ready tonight I had a little bit of a renewed interest in the sport, but just because the last time I scored was the last time we played these guys in a loss back in October. My first shift of the game, I made two great moves (in my mind) to go in on the goalie all alone and I made him look like a god. But it wasn’t much longer after that, I think it was off the next face off that the puck went back to the point, the defenseman took the shot and I deflected it into the top of the net. 1 to nothing. I had 4 more chances at scoring goals but with not luck, I either hit him with the shot or he made a great save. But then when the score was 7-2 us, the center and I came across the blue line and he dropped it to me (might have just slipped off his stick, but he won’t admit it) and I wound up and put it into the top corner of the net. Now I was all excited. There was 10 minutes left in the game and I was one shot away from getting my first hat trick. I worked harder in that period then I had in the long time, but in the end, it ended up that I made the goalie look great a couple more times and we finished the game with an 8-2 win. So I can at least say I got the first and last goal of the night. Oh yea, and there were no fights for once. I think I like this again, but now we are off till the Wednesday after Christmas. I hope my neighbor calls for me to play with his team this week.
