I was so glad that I left yesterday to see the play. It all started with the kids lined up outside the gym and then they paraded around us. Who was in front? Garrett yes he was, he was leading everyone in.
The Play or should we call it a bunch of short stories about the past was about 40 mins long. The first play was about Columbus talking to the king of Spain about going to the new country. Garrett announced the play and then he played the king who said you can go.
After that another group came out but Garrett and one other boy stayed on stage and took turns announcing the plays. I was so proud of him. He got up in front of the group and said his lines and moved back to his seat on the side of the stage. He didn’t look or sound nervous. He was loud so everyone could hear. You could tell that a lot of the kids were nervous, because you couldn’t hear them.
When they were done, they did another parade around the gym and we got to talk to them. I was just so happy for how he did. He is so not like me in front of people. I always break out in the sweats and I forget what I’m talking about. Even after having speech classes, I still can’t do it. I hope he never loses this.
On a sidenote, we asked him how he got to do this job and he said that he and 2 other boys were talking one day while the whole group was practicing and the teacher asked him to come up and use his voice for good. I guess she thought it would punish him, he just thought it was great to have so much to do with it.

A budding actor. That's great. Both of my boys were in theater all the way thru high school. It was awesome for them and even more exciting for us as parents. I loved all the times the boys would shine at what they did, whether it was "the stage", music, sports. It makes you soo proud. I love to be able to say, "That's MY boy!"
