My First Car - 1977 Ford Pinto

When my friends and I turned 16 most of us got cars. I was not as lucky as most of my friends. Some got brand new trans am and a couple got corvettes. My mother got a new car and my parents decided that I should have the old car. I was happy to have the transportation. It was a 1977 Ford Pinto, I got it in 1984. I drove it for two years before we got a cracked cylinder and my dad sold the whole thing for $200 to a buddy of his. I was OK with that because I only had to make it through 2 months of the summer and I was off to college.

As I was driving home yesterday I passed a pinto station wagon and it brought back all the good times I had with that old car. I know they were deathtraps and would blow up if you got rear ended. I got rear ended once and it took the hit OK, but it was only about 5 miles per hour and did no damage to my car. I have had about 8 cars since then but I will always remember that one. I nice shade of Jade Green (just like the picture of the car in the bottom of the ad). Most of the greens back then were horrible, mine was pretty cool.

So what was your first?

HAHAHA Take me back in time...my first car was a used, navy-blue Dodge Dart. It wasn't real impressive, but it kept me dry and warm in bad weather.
