AOL and VOIP

When I read the title on this: Yahoo! News - AOL to Launch VoIP Within a Month - the first thought that went through my mind was how can a company that sells dialup network go into the phone business. Voip works because you are connected to the internet and if you have to dial up to get connected then it seems that you are paying twice for the same thing. Its just like paying of AOL and connecting over your cable modem and DSL.

I know that AOL isn’t expecting its dialup customers to jump on VOIP, but it was the first thought that came to my mind.

Yeah, that is sort of weird. My school had VoIP installed into the wireless network a year ago, but I don't personally know anyone who's really used it. I don't think anyone would be really enthusiastic about it (unless you're a tech geek) until the voice quality gets better.
