Iceberg

by Clive Cussler
This is the 3rd book in the Dirk Pitt series, but the first one the library had on CD, so I had to start here. It was my first Dirk Pitt book and it was a pretty good story. I have found through listening to books that it makes all the difference in the world who is reading the book as to how good it would be. I found that this reader was pretty monotone which made it hard to know who was saying what. I like the readers that will change their voices and tons depending on who is talking.

This story is about a boat that is found encased in an iceberg and how it came to be there, but that isn't the story, it ends up being about power and money and Dirk has to stop these guys from killing two leaders of two different countries to stop the take over of these countries by this company of power and money. It was a starting place for me in the Dirk Pitt series and I will try another one before I decide which one I like better, but for now Kurt Austin has my vote, but like I said its all in the reading.

Tom,
Finished "Chain Of Command" by Dale Brown. Read by Robert Culp.

If your into every aspect of a fighter plane, Radar or battle strategies, you will love this book. Not much of character involvement, except for 2 main characters. Im getting too spoiled by the good books. Started another Nevada Barr book, her first. I can see the difference in the writing.

Chao for now,

Mike

I also read "Chains of Command" and really liked the characters Dale Brown introduced in that book, but was a little disappointed they didn't make a significant appearance in future books. They were reminiscent of the key characters Stephen Coonts introduced in "The Minotaur"

As for Mr. Cussler? He still rocks no matter who his characters are.
