No That's A 5th Grade Book

Something that has always made me proud about Garrett is his lust and ability to read. He started reading with the rest of the kids in his class, but he just excelled quicker then the rest. This past summer I introduced him to the Hardy Boys series, a series that I read a couple of when I was 11 or 12. He is 8 and loves the books. His class went to the library yesterday and he wanted to take one out, but being that he is in 3rd grade the librarian said that he couldn’t take out a book marked for 5th graders. He look disappointed and told her that he had already finished 2 of them this past summer at home and she told him to read the first couple of pages out loud to see if he could read it. He got down the 1/2 of the first page and she was running it through the check out machine. I hope they remember this the next time he comes in. He is such a better reader then me and I’m very happy for that. I know that it will make him a better student (which he gets from his mother anyway). I was always into partying at school and not really into studying.

That is wonderful that he is so interested in reading. That's the age to get them hooked.
