It was nice going in and meeting the teachers for the older 2 last night. We started with Sean’s teacher, the 1st grade teacher of the year last year in our district of 45 elementary schools, so that was cool, but as a parent you don’t want to sit there and listen to him telling you that he gives out a lot of homework and that he expects the family to join in on a lot of them. Like I have all the time in the world for that. But wait it gets better, we move to Garrett’s teacher and she is new to 3rd grade, but has been teaching for 9 years, but mostly K and 1st. So her first words out of her mouth are, I’m new to 3rd and I have no idea what I’m doing. It instills faith in me that my child is going to learn anything in there this year. I try not to be hard on teachers, I’m married to one, so I feel a little better knowing that if the teacher we are paying our taxes for can’t teach my child, I’m sure that my wife will make sure that he gets to 4th grade. We only hope that the teacher was selling herself short and that she is going to be a great teacher after all.
Side note: I’m f@$%ing tired today. I started watching the Agassi match last night and it looked like it was over after the 2nd set and I started watching a movie 1/2 way through and then when it was done I switched back and sure enough he was winning and I ended up staying up to 1:45 to see the end of the match. I’m happy that he won, but I would have loved for it to end earlier. I will be dragging all day.
