Mortal Prey

Mortal Prey
by John Sandford
Clara Rinker had finally found happiness and peace in her life down in Mexico. She had met Palo and now was pregnant with his baby. One day as they were coming out of a restaurant from a lovely lunch, there was a gun shot and Palo was falling. Somebody had shot him but why and now she was feeling faint herself. The single bullet had passed through him and hit her also. When she came back around she found out that Palo was dead and so was the baby. Why would someone try and hit Palo, but she knew they were probably trying to hit her and he got in the way. Now she was going to St. Louis to finish what they boys up there started.

Clara was first introduced in Certain Prey, where a lawyer from Minnesota hired her to kill the wife of a guy that she was sleeping with and wanted to spend her future with him once the wife was out of the way. The lawyer and the guy ended up dieing in the book, but Clara got away. She never got too far out of Lucas’ mind. He was called in by the FBI to help them try and track her down before she killed anymore people in this book.

Of all the characters that John Sandford has introduced, with the exception of Lucas and Del. I have liked Clara the most. She was so lively. This was a great book and I would recommend that anyone who likes suspense and cunning should read it but just like every other Sandford book, its just great!
