Late To Camping

We had it all planned in February, we would go camping June 22nd through the 25th. Sure we knew that was about the time that baseball playoffs would be winding down, but we have never been any good to win. Well that was before B1’s team went through the season undefeated and it looked like they would just take it all before losing in the 2nd to last game, which for the trip was a good thing because we were supposed to play that first night we were supposed to be camping. Now onto B2’s team. They were ok, but didn’t show any of that killer instinct to win in the playoffs. So we were just happy that they won their first round game and we were going to be OK with the fact that they would lose on Wednesday night and we would go camping on Thursday. Well Mother Nature had another thing in mind. She decided to have one of the most spectacular lightning displays I have ever seen that night so as you may have guessed by now, they moved the game from Wednesday night till Friday night. Ok so we miss the first two days of camping and go up Saturday morning.

OK so someone forgot to tell the team about our plans because they went out there on Friday night and played a great game and won. So now we have a game on Saturday and we will go up after the game for the night. B3 was going to miss T-ball on Saturday because of the trip, but now that we had a game at 1:00pm that day, I decided that he could go to, what ended up being, his last T-ball game. We pitched to the kids to get them ready for coach pitch next year and they all hit great. They all batted twice and B3 had a line shot to the short stop that scared him out of the way and a little grounder to 2nd. He also made an out at first even though we still give the kids the base and let them run to all of them.

T-ball runs over, so we make a made rush to McDonalds, my meal away from home. Get food and come back and eat in the car and hurry out to warm ups for B2’s game. Now that I was missing my trip, I didn’t want to lose this one, so we got all the kids hitting balls before the game. These games are won on hitting not on fielding, like the next level up. It was a great game for both teams. We were up and we were down and we were up and we were down and when it got to the top of the 6th, we batted first, our team was down by 1. We pulled all the kids together and let them know that this would be our last at bat unless we can get the run to tie. Our first batter was really nervous and after 4 foul balls, struck out. Our next batter got up there and with 2 strikes and 3 fouls, hit a great shot to the 3rd baseman and ran it out to first to be safe. After that we moved back to the top of our order and the flood gates opened. We scored 7, the most you can get in an inning, and took the field 6 up. Knowing that we could lose by 1 if we don’t play some defense. Their first guy struck out and it made us a little easier, but then they quickly filled the bases and got two runs in. They their next batter hit a pop in between the pitcher, first baseman and second baseman. All went for the ball the 2nd baseman came out of the pile with the ball. We were yelling at him to tag 1st because the kid on first was already at 2nd, but he got back to the base before he could get there and then we yelled for him to throw it to third, because the kid on 3rd was already home and sitting in the dugout, but we over threw it and he made it back to the base. The next batter got up and hit a grounder to the pitcher and he raced the guy from 3rd home and beat him there.

Now we play for the championship tomorrow night. I sure hope they can play like that again. They were awesome.

As for camping we were so pumped up it took us a while to pack and get going but we made it there by 6:30 and had the tent up by 7:00. I ate had a couple of beers and passed out in the tent at 9:30 I was so tired from the excitement and being in the heat all day long.
