From The Basement To The Yard

Last Wednesday I got that call at work that everyone loves to get. “The basement is under 2 inches of water and it looks like the sump pump is dead and the backup isn’t working”. So off I went in a huff and with an hour drive to cool of, it didn’t matter. By the time I got home to try and fix this, it was cold water and up to my ankles. I was able to get the backup working and then the boys and I went out to the store to get a new sump pump. After that I spent the rest of the night with the wet/dry vac cleaning out the finshed part of the basement of its water in the carpet and then put all the fans and dehumidifiers on full. For 3 days we dumped the dehumidifiers out every 6 hours and then on Sunday it was finally dry again and stuff was restored to the basement.

It was a one day break till the freezing rain starting and I woke up yesterday morning to having some big branches down from our trees that will need to be cut up when it warms a bit, but they are littering the yard and need to be moved, but damn are they heavy (lots of firewood for the cottage this year!). So back to work I am today, the much easier stuff. :)

Bec:

Didn't have internet for a week and am behind in my reading. Wow. This sucks! We don't have basements in TX. It's reading stuff like this that makes me glad we don't. Kinda. We've had WAY too much rain and ice here lately. I feel ya!
